How it works

1
Ask on the order confirmation page
Asked after the order is placed, so checkout stays untouched.

2
Ask one follow-up, your choice
Picking AI recommendation opens one follow-up per survey. Ask “Which tool?” to see ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity, or “What were you looking for?” to capture the buyer’s own query.

3
Compare by platform or query
Each answer lands on the order, so you can compare platforms or queries by order value and repeat buyers.
AI attribution
Fairing lines up each buyer’s answer with the last click, so AI-recommended orders stop hiding in Google Ads and Direct.

AI attribution methods
My AI share of voice is going up. But what about sales?
I don’t see a referrer. Just Direct traffic.
My static survey’s response rate is too low, and I only see “AI,” not which one.
The buyer told us ChatGPT, right after checkout.
Why Fairing
1

Shopify App Store reviews

JIYU

“Fairing has become our go-to for understanding where customers actually first heard about us (and when) and collecting other insights we’re in need of. Super simple to set up - it’s helped us make sharper calls on where to spend, especially when we know customers are shopping cross channel. The team are brilliant too: quick to reply and genuinely helpful.”

“One the best platforms on Shopify - an essential technology. As it becomes harder and harder to understand where a customer is coming from, Fairing helps you find the answer. The analytics in the platform are super strong - and getting better every month. I love that I can lifetime value by acquisition source. Matt and the team are really excellent - always so helpful and super responsive. Get this, you won’t regret it.”

We already ask how buyers heard about us, with an AI option. What changes?
An AI option tells you AI was involved. Advanced Attribution adds one follow-up that asks which AI tool or what the buyer was looking for, with order revenue on every answer. Our team adds it to the survey you already run.
How do I know if AI tools are driving sales?
Ask buyers after checkout how they heard about you, with “AI recommendation” as an option. One follow-up then asks which AI tool, or what they were looking for. Across 158 ecommerce brands, surveys captured 7.5× more AI-influenced orders and 10.6× more AI-driven revenue than UTM and AI referrer tracking (Fairing, Nov 2024 to May 2026).
How do I track AI traffic in GA4?
GA4 records AI visits that arrive with a referrer or a utm_source, such as chatgpt.com or perplexity.ai. Many buyers instead read an answer, then search your name or type your URL, so the order lands in Google or Direct. In Fairing’s Q4 2025 benchmarks, most LLM-attributed orders had no last-click UTM, and when one was present it pointed at Google roughly 20% of the time. A post-purchase survey catches those orders by asking the buyer.
Is Fairing an AI visibility tool?
No. Fairing doesn’t track prompts, citations or share of voice, and it can’t prove a platform caused the order. It asks buyers who already ordered which AI tool, or what they were looking for, so it never hears from shoppers an AI talked out of buying. Track the revenue buyers credit to AI weekly next to your visibility score to see whether GEO and AEO work is paying off, and run a holdout test to read lift.
Which AI platforms can buyers name?
You choose the list, under AI recommendation. Most DTC brands start with ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Microsoft Copilot and Meta AI.
How accurate is a buyer’s answer about AI?
It reflects what buyers remember, so some mix up platforms, and it covers only the buyers who answer. Read it as directional on cause. It doesn’t measure lift on its own, so pair it with GA4, a holdout test and your MMM.
Does Fairing work for ecommerce brands that aren’t on Shopify?
Yes. Fairing runs on Shopify’s Thank You and Order Status pages and Shopify POS, plus WooCommerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Recharge and headless stores through a Web SDK.
