More Americans watch podcasts on YouTube than anywhere else, and pixels aren’t allowed there. A buyer watches on TV, orders on a phone two days later, and it lands in Direct. Your top shows look flat.

Order confirmation with “How did you hear about us?” and four answers: Search, YouTube, Podcast (selected) and Other.

1

Ask on the order confirmation page

Asked after the order is placed, so checkout stays untouched.

“Which show?” follow-up with “ledg” typed in the search box and The Morning Ledger highlighted in the suggestions, above Ledgerline Weekly.

2

Match the answer to the show

A “Podcast” or “YouTube” answer triggers one follow-up. Show names suggest as the buyer types.

Fairing has been an amazing resource and my favorite tool to understand the true point of brand discovery for consumers. A simple question of “where did you find us” allows unparalleled insights across the marketing funnel (also allows me to call BS on the last click attribution!). One of my favorite aspects is seeing the omni-channel impacts (via responses like Amazon, Macy’s, I heard you on a podcast, etc). It’s one of the best tools you can implement and Matt makes the process amazing from start to finish!

“Fairing has become our go-to for understanding where customers actually first heard about us (and when) and collecting other insights we’re in need of. Super simple to set up - it’s helped us make sharper calls on where to spend, especially when we know customers are shopping cross channel. The team are brilliant too: quick to reply and genuinely helpful.”

“We were previously on Kno which is a solid place to start not thinking too much of the Post Purchase Survey until I got a walk through of Fairing. Their integrations and the data you can pull and connect to are next level. If you are looking to get a way better understanding of your attribution and the ability to connect these data points to all your channels this is the tool for you.”

How accurate is a self-reported answer?

It’s a sample: the buyers who answer, and what they remember. Fairing asks on the order confirmation page while the purchase is fresh. It doesn’t measure incremental lift on its own, so read it next to your pixel data, promo codes and MMM.

What if the buyer doesn’t remember the show, or watched it on YouTube?

They can still answer “Podcast,” which counts toward the channel. A “Podcast” or “YouTube” answer triggers the show follow-up, so a buyer who watched on YouTube still gets asked which show. Show names suggest as they type, so a partial name finds the right show. A write-in that exactly matches a show on your list is recategorized automatically. Matching for misspelled write-ins is coming soon.

Do I need a pixel or RSS prefix to track podcast ads?

No. The survey asks the buyer directly, so it works where no pixel can reach, including YouTube and Spotify Video. If you already run a prefix or pixel through Podscribe, keep it, along with your promo codes and MMM. Fairing adds the buyer’s answer next to them, and most brands read two or three of these together.

How does Fairing help with leaked promo codes?

Fairing’s Discount Code Report lines up every discount code buyers used with how they said they heard about you. When a podcast code shows up on orders from buyers who found you on coupon sites or browser extensions, you can see the leak and credit the show only for the buyers who named it.

How long after a podcast ad do people buy?

Often weeks later. Magellan AI’s Q1 2026 data shows 58% of measured response within 7 days and 87.4% within 30, so about 13% arrives after a typical 30-day window. Buyers name the show whenever they order.

How many questions does a buyer have to answer?

Usually one question and one follow-up. Long show lists stay quick to answer, because show names suggest as the buyer types and a partial name finds the right one.

Does Fairing work for ecommerce brands that aren’t on Shopify?

Yes. Fairing runs on Shopify’s Thank You and Order Status pages and Shopify POS, plus WooCommerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Recharge and headless stores through a Web SDK.
